In Preludes, pianist, composer, and arranger Adam Birnbaum takes a dozen preludes from the first half of Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier–pieces that “evoke spontaneous, improvised ideas”--and transforms them into the coolest jazz. As Thomas Conrad at Stereophile Magazine says:
